The 1991 release of the Beyond Cyberpunk! HyperCard stack from The Computer Lab introduced cyberspace cadets to the real and imagined futures generated by technology-saturated culture. Using an "art techno" backdrop, animation, and industrial-erotic sounds, BCP explored books, movies, comics, magazines, games, and art related to cyberpunk science fiction and the cultural movement it spawned.
Beyond Cyberpunk! '93 is the equivalent of the Encyclopaedia Britannica Annual. It attempts to keep up with the latest developments on the bleeding edge and holds lots of great information, but unfortunately it doesn't integrate well with the original 1991 volume of work. Included in Beyond Cyberpunk! '93 are commentaries on Wild Palms, Wired, Hip Hop, The Blue Lily comics, and William Gibson's Virtual Light. An upcoming CD-ROM version promises to combine both stacks and add more connections to its datapoints.
