Most PC keyboards are made as cheaply as possible: light plastic, wafer switches, etc. Anything goes wrong, you chuck it out and buy another. But there is an alternative: Lexmark boards are built like machine tools - you could pound nails with one. Consequently, they feel very solid. The switches give a slight mechanical resistance until they engage, which lets you type very fast, with fewer errors. They can fairly easily be repaired, though I've yet to see one develop a problem. I expect mine will last longer than I do. - Robert Lauriston
